Things you can buy on Amazon for $1 (or less)

Are you looking for small fillers to get free shipping? Here are some things you can get for under $1.

Some of these are really great finds because they are practical or edible! For example, you can get a can of black beans which is a pantry staple for most, and always welcome at a food bank for donations if you don’t want or need it.

I’ll admit, on the other hand, some of these are pretty random, but that’s not the point at all.

The point is: sometimes you just buy the random thing because it’s just enough to get you past the free shipping threshold.

How to score great deals on diapers (and other baby stuff)!

Are you looking for huge deals on diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, organic baby food, butt paste (yes, it’s a thing….and it’s wonderful), and more? You are going to love this!!

This post contains affiliate links – view full disclaimer here. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases, at no additional cost to you.

One of my readers was super duper smart and scored an amazing deal on Huggies diapers. I wanted to share what she did with all of you, so you can learn to think like a savvy shopper.

Check out my post here to see how I made $9.00 by buying a bar of soap on Amazon!

You probably know all about Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program. If not, you can read more about it here. There are plenty of creative ways to bundle and stack your savings. You may have to search to find the best deals, but sometimes it’s so obvious the deals practically find you!

Let’s get right to it, shall we?

Here’s the deal my reader scored:

3 packs of Huggies Snug & Dry (200 count) for a TOTAL of $54.20. That’s less than 10 cents per diaper!

Advertisements

Let’s break it down…

Huggies Snug & Dry (count varies based on size) is $33.71 on Amazon for a 200 count package of Size 1. Comparable products can be found at big box stores such as Target and Walmart, at a similar price per item.

Amazon currently has a promotion on this item for a $30 savings when you spend $100 – see details here (whoa, that’s a sweet deal in itself). Target has a similar deal where you will get a $30 gift card when you spend $100 (through 1/18/20).

And, if you are a prime member, you can take advantage of 20% off baby products with Subscribe & Save (when you have 5 items). This deal STACKS with the other discount for a huge savings!! I did a quick breakdown of the math for you here:

To unlock the $30 Amazon discount you would have to buy 3 packs, and at Target you would have to buy 5. Then Amazon takes off the 20% Subscribe & Save discount after the $30, which brings it down to $56.90 (for 3 packs!!!).

Here’s what my cart looks like since I already have subscribe & save items ordered, but you would need to add at least 2 cheapo “fillers” to get that 20% savings. If you need help finding fillers, or are looking for ideas, check out my list of Amazon fillers under $1 here.

So the takeaway here is this – don’t be afraid to get creative with your shopping. You can often stack deals (like subscribe & save with an additional promotion or coupon). Sometimes you have to add small fillers to unlock the full potential of the savings, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Keep in mind price per product, since that’s how you can truly see the value of great deals. Remember, you can cancel your subscribe & save order even after the first shipment – there is no commitment.

Other ideas for this deal if you don’t want or need diapers – you can mix and match any of the following (see the complete list of promotional items here):

I’m so excited about these deals – can you tell?!! Maybe you don’t have babies, toddlers, or small children, but you may need gifts for relatives, baby showers, etc. Also, everything on this list would be wonderful to donate to a shelter 🙂

I hope this helps you save bundles of money! Happy deal hunting!

Amazon subscribe and save – amazon fillers – cheap amazon items – cheap subscribe & save items

Practically FREE Amazon Subscribe and Save “Fillers”

Are you looking for cheap subscribe and save items? You are in the right place!

*Updated: April 2020

Here is the ultimate list of Subscribe & Save “fillers” that are almost FREE. If you factor in your overall Subscribe & Save savings (using these as your 5th item), these are most likely money makers. And the savings can be substantial depending on what the rest of your monthly items cost.

Check out my post here to see how I made $9.00 by buying a bar of soap!

So as a follow up to my previous post, I have compiled a list of the absolute best Subscribe & Save fillers. All of these are under $1 after the 15% discount is applied (at the time of writing this post – please keep in mind that prices and availability are subject to change).

Some of these are really great finds because they are practical or edible! For example, you can get a can of black beans which is a pantry staple for most, and always welcome at a food bank for donations.

I’ll admit, on the other hand, some of these are pretty random. Who needs one file folder to be delivered each month (someone maybe!), but that’s not the point at all.

The point is: sometimes you just buy the random thing because it’s cheaper overall. You can add a $0.50 item to your monthly order and save $5, $15, $50 per month or MORE!

This is the definition of a

money maker“!

Then, you can do more good by donating said item to someone in need. Collect the folders each month and give them to a local school, bundle up the toiletries and makeup and donate them to a shelter, or stock up on food items for your local pantry. This is a WIN / WIN / WIN!

Amazon subscribe and save – amazon fillers – cheap amazon items – cheap subscribe & save items

Amazon Subscribe and Save “Fillers”

Amazon Subscribe and Save is a convenient way to have regularly used items delivered automatically to your doorstep. As an added bonus, Amazon offers a 5% discount on these items plus free shipping. But that’s not all…

Here’s the kicker: Amazon will bump your discount up to 15% if you have 5 or more subscriptions in a single month.

To unlock the extra discount, you may need a “filler”. A filler is a small, cheap object to satisfy the 5th item in your subscription. Often times fillers can be useful things that you need anyway, so you can actually save money by purchasing more things. Crazy, right?! Here’s what I do, and some suggestions for things you can use as fillers.

My November Subscribe & Save lineup looks like this (which is a pretty typical month for me):

***There is currently a coupon for the Cascade Actionpacs for $0.57 which you can stack and apply to your first Subscribe & Save order (November 2019).

Love delivery day!!

Based on current prices at the time of writing (which are always subject to change), my total would be $97.74 minus 5% = $92.85.

So, here’s the magic….

If I add a “filler” (small, cheap item to unlock the 15% discount for having 5 subscriptions in a month), I will actually pay less for buying more. Mind blown.

My filler (it’s under $1!!):

When I add a bar of soap ($0.90), my total comes down to $83.84!

See what I did there? My previous total was $97.74 (eligible for a 5% discount). When I added the bar of soap, my total came to $98.64, but then I became eligible for a 15% discount! Essentially, I save $9 by adding an item to my order – yay!

It’s like Amazon paid me $9 and gave me free soap!

You can set the frequency of your subscribe and save items to match your needs, and you can add/remove items at any time (no committment whatsoever).

It’s truly a great deal, and saves me from having to schlep a 31 lb. bag of dog food. I just love it, and the convenience can’t be beat.

PS – If you need dog or cat food, there is a promotion going on RIGHT NOW for 40% off first dog or cat food Subscribe & Save order! If you are ordering a 30 lb bag like I do, that’s a huge savings!! You can see the details (and other Subscribe and Save coupons) here.

Here are some other filler ideas under $5, and some are under $1. I have a full post dedicated to Subscribe and Save fillers under $1 – HERE. Most likely if you add any of these to your existing Subscribe & Save orders it will be FREE and you will probably pay LESS for your order in total (direct links below):

You can use this same logic if you just need a cheap item to unlock free shipping (if you are not a Prime member).
