Are you looking for small fillers to get free shipping? Here are some things you can get for under $1.
Some of these are really great finds because they are practical or edible! For example, you can get a can of black beans which is a pantry staple for most, and always welcome at a food bank for donations if you don’t want or need it.

I’ll admit, on the other hand, some of these are pretty random, but that’s not the point at all.
The point is: sometimes you just buy the random thing because it’s just enough to get you past the free shipping threshold.

Are you looking for cheap subscribe and save items? You are in the right place!
*Updated: April 2020
Here is the ultimate list of Subscribe & Save “fillers” that are almost FREE. If you factor in your overall Subscribe & Save savings (using these as your 5th item), these are most likely money makers. And the savings can be substantial depending on what the rest of your monthly items cost.
Check out my post here to see how I made $9.00 by buying a bar of soap!
So as a follow up to my previous post, I have compiled a list of the absolute best Subscribe & Save fillers. All of these are under $1 after the 15% discount is applied (at the time of writing this post – please keep in mind that prices and availability are subject to change).

I’ll admit, on the other hand, some of these are pretty random. Who needs one file folder to be delivered each month (someone maybe!), but that’s not the point at all.
The point is: sometimes you just buy the random thing because it’s cheaper overall. You can add a $0.50 item to your monthly order andsave $5, $15, $50 per month or MORE!
This is the definition of a
“money maker“!
Then, you can do more good by donating said item to someone in need. Collect the folders each month and give them to a local school, bundle up the toiletries and makeup and donate them to a shelter, or stock up on food items for your local pantry. This is a WIN / WIN / WIN!

I hope this helps you save (and makes you) some money! Let me know if you found any other hidden treasures to add to the list! I’ll continue to update it if I find others as well.
Amazon Subscribe and Save is a convenient way to have regularly used items delivered automatically to your doorstep. As an added bonus, Amazon offers a 5% discount on these items plus free shipping. But that’s not all…
Here’s the kicker: Amazon will bump your discount up to 15% if you have 5 or more subscriptions in a single month.
To unlock the extra discount, you may need a “filler”. A filler is a small, cheap object to satisfy the 5th item in your subscription. Often times fillers can be useful things that you need anyway, so you can actually save money by purchasing more things. Crazy, right?! Here’s what I do, and some suggestions for things you can use as fillers.

My November Subscribe & Save lineup looks like this (which is a pretty typical month for me):
***There is currently a coupon for the Cascade Actionpacs for $0.57 which you can stack and apply to your first Subscribe & Save order (November 2019).
Love delivery day!!
Based on current prices at the time of writing (which are always subject to change), my total would be $97.74 minus 5% = $92.85.
So, here’s the magic….
If I add a “filler” (small, cheap item to unlock the 15% discount for having 5 subscriptions in a month), I will actually pay less for buying more. Mind blown.
My filler (it’s under $1!!):
When I add a bar of soap ($0.90), my total comes down to $83.84!
See what I did there? My previous total was $97.74 (eligible for a 5% discount). When I added the bar of soap, my total came to $98.64, but then I became eligible for a 15% discount! Essentially, I save $9 by adding an item to my order – yay!
It’s like Amazon paid me $9 and gave me free soap!
You can set the frequency of your subscribe and save items to match your needs, and you can add/remove items at any time (no committment whatsoever).

It’s truly a great deal, and saves me from having to schlep a 31 lb. bag of dog food. I just love it, and the convenience can’t be beat.
PS – If you need dog or cat food, there is a promotion going on RIGHT NOW for 40% off first dog or cat food Subscribe & Save order! If you are ordering a 30 lb bag like I do, that’s a huge savings!! You can see the details (and other Subscribe and Save coupons) here.
Here are some other filler ideas under $5, and some are under $1. I have a full post dedicated to Subscribe and Save fillers under $1 – HERE. Most likely if you add any of these to your existing Subscribe & Save orders it will be FREE and you will probably pay LESS for your order in total (direct links below):
You can use this same logic if you just need a cheap item to unlock free shipping (if you are not a Prime member).
